The ‘Jen’eral Perspective on Volunteers
Every year we go through two cycle of needing volunteers, one in the spring and one in the fall. We are now in the process of gearing up for round two for this year. So much happens on the farm, in the vineyard, at the winery and at festivals in the fall we couldn’t do it without the help of our awesome volunteer crew!! We have, over the years, built a great group of volunteers, but we continue to seek out others that want to become part of us!
You can volunteer in either events that take place at the winery or an offsite festival. The majority of volunteers we need are for pouring wine at festivals. However, we do have a few times where we need them onsite either for pouring tastings at some of our larger events or to help in the making of wine with watermelon scooping or bottling.
So why volunteer with Layton’s Chance?
To be around other wine lovers, learn more about us, our wines and to help spread the word about the wines you love! If you help with bottling, you get to be part of making the wine you love!
You to get to hang out with Team Layton! Festivals are fast paced and often create funny stories, making great memories to go down in Layton’s Chance history that are only known to this inside group!
In addition to our wines, at festivals, you are able to expand your knowledge of Maryland wine by sampling wines from across the state. This is especially true for the Maryland Wine Festival. Although it is far from us, it has the most wineries in attendance!
Experience a wine festival that you may not have gone to otherwise for no charge! All volunteers receive free admission to the festival for working their shift. Most shifts range from 2 to 3 hours leaving the rest of the day to enjoy at the festival at your leisure. Many times our first shift fills up first because people want to work first and then have the rest of the day at the festival. However, the middle shift offers a nice break in your wine tasting to help in pacing yourself and the last shift gives a window of time to take a break from wine tasting before you drive home.
In addition to free admission, you receive 20% off any purchases that you make that day and a glass of wine any time you volunteer with us. Plus, when you join the volunteer crew you receive one of our sought after “I make POUR decisions with Layton’s Chance” t-shirt that are only reserved for team members and volunteers.
We invite you to become part of our volunteer crew! Click here to volunteer for bottling taking place next week. Click here to view all of the festival opportunities we currently have open!
